As a Dunhuang local, Guo Xiaojie heard many intriguing Mogao stories from her parents when she was a child. "At that time, we called it the caves of a thousand Buddhas. I always thought it was the most mysterious place in the world," said Guo.

A trip to Mogao Grottoes in middle school ignited her passion for its culture. "The amazing trip dragged me into an ancient world, and I was spellbound by its arts and diverse cultures," she said.

After graduating from college in 2008, Guo decided to go back to her hometown and chose to be a tour guide at Mogao Grottoes. For Guo, every tour to Mogao Grottoes is a grand visual feast. Through the exquisite murals and sculptures, modern people can catch a glimpse of the ancient Silk Road and better understand the splendid Dunhuang culture.

Guo sees her mission as telling the stories of Dunhuang to the world, and is also learning all the time. "As a tour guide, we should continue to expand our knowledge about the profound Dunhuang culture, which will enable us to better promote Dunhuang culture to visitors," Guo said.

"Sharing the knowledge and beauty of Dunhuang culture to visitors is very meaningful. I really enjoy this job," Guo said.
